If your planning on having kids at your wedding there are a few things you want to keep in mind. Keeping kids entertained will help them and their parents be more comfortable and willing to stay longer at your reception.
You can always ask parents what they would prefer. If they want their children sitting with them at the table or what kind of games they like. Its important to make sure that you pick activities the kids will enjoy and not get bored easily with.
Its easy to keep the kids out of trouble by having them sit down for dinner with the adults, but have a separate table set-up with games and coloring books for after dinner. This way everyone will be comfortable during dinner.
Make sure you have a kid-friendly option for dinner as well. Bacon wrapped fillets will certainly keep the adults happy but the little guys don’t always have such sophisticated pallets. You can never go wrong with chicken fingers, pizza, or cheeseburgers for dinner. You never know what kids will eat and what they won’t, so stick with the staples.
Make the kids feel special. Put together a favor bag with their names on it and fill it with things they’ll love. Animal crackers, juice boxes, coloring books, and even a disposable camera will defiantly help make the kids feel special. There’s nothing better than a kid running around a wedding with a camera in hand. Let them play photographer, this way they can go and develop the film after the wedding.
Have several different games and activities for the kids. Coloring books are great, water colors, and card games should be on the top of the list. Make sure that whatever you get is washable. We all know kids love to get dirty!
If your budget allows for it find a sitting service. You can have a separate room set up for all of the kids to hang out and play. This gives the parents the opportunity to relax, have fun, and check in on their kids from time to time. Setting up your family and friends with great options for their children will make for a super fun wedding, and will ensure your guests attendance!
