From Catherine Guidry: It was their sophomore year of college at LSU. Studying Petroleum engineering is no easy task so when it came to school they were focused. So focused, in fact, they didn’t notice they were attending the same classes and events…until CEBA. For the first time they came into contact with each other and they noticed.
Alida and Reid became friends. Living in the same apartment complex allowed them the convenience to study and spend time together working on their homework assignements in engineering. In the Spring of Junior year, their relationship began. As Alida describes the initial phases, “It was easy. We didn’t have to go through any awkward stages because we already knew each other.” The only risk was the willingness and the potential to lose such an incredible friendship should it not work out.
Ultimately, they decided it WAS worth the risk….and it’s a good thing they did! They call each other “Nana” and the thing Alida seems to love most about Reid is his effort with the small things…..his sweet thoughts and kind acts, cards for dates, flowers on bad days….even a pumpkin tree for Halloween. It was such a pleasure photographing Alida and Reid on the LSU grounds…the place where their relationsip began.
