While weddings are the most beautiful celebrations on the planet, they can also be very stressful. For the bride-to-be, while wedding planning can be a lot of fun, the stress of it all can take its toll.
Even if the idea of planning a stress-free wedding seems like a fantasy, it isn’t impossible. The key to planning a stress-free wedding is preparation, the more planning you do, the less stressful your big day will be.
To help you make your special day as stress-free as possible, we have put together four handy tips, below:
1. Make decisions as a couple
Sit down together as a couple and discuss what type of event you would both like. Do you want a church wedding and a formal reception? Does a beach wedding appeal to you? Would a destination wedding be more your thing? Whatever you want for your wedding, before you start planning, get a firm idea in your head.
2. Choose the venue first
It can be hard to know where to start when it comes to planning your wedding, but the best place to start is with the venue. Before setting a date or choosing a theme, pick the venues for both the ceremony and the reception.
If you set the date for your wedding in advance, you might find it tricky getting a venue that fits the date you want. That’s why it’s much easier to choose a venue before selecting a date, as you will have more choice.
3. Keep the details quiet
Until everything is booked, and the plan is set in place, avoid telling people the details of your big day. It’s tempting to discuss your wedding plans with your friends, but as you could end up changing things, it’s best to keep quiet.
Once you share the details of your wedding, people won’t be able to help giving you tips and ideas. While they are only trying to help, it can be stressful having everyone trying to get involved in your wedding planning.
4. Create a week by week list
So that you know what you are meant to be organizing each week, create a list of all the tasks you have, and when you should be doing them. You will find it much easier to keep your sanity if you have a list to hand to look at.
As your wedding draws closer, there will be lots of things that need to be organized. For instance, three months before the wedding you need to pay the band and caterers, as well as starting to look for wedding bands. Three months is usually enough time to look for wedding rings. However, if either of you have custom made engagement rings and want the wedding bands to match, allow extra time.
Have a list that has jobs that start six months before the wedding and last until a week before. By having a list to follow, you will find organizing your wedding much less stressful.
Planning a stress free wedding might seem impossible, but with the right planning, it’s not.
