Creative Touches For The Perfect Groom (And Groomsmen)

For years, weddings have tuned down a little bit from the high society trends they are envisioned as in films and TV. Farmyard and low-key weddings took the place of churches and halls. In recent years, though, trends point towards old-school weddings taking hold again.

As the old adage goes, the wedding day is for the bride. For men, the more relaxed days are probably a bit of a godsend as planning is more lowkey and relaxed. With the venues becoming classier, it’s a good time to look at those finishing touches that will have the groom and his entourage looking their absolute best.

The key piece: wedding bands

The wedding band should obviously not be constrained by the events of the day. That being said, it’s going to be on for a long time and what’s stylish on the day can remain stylish for life. Price doesn’t need to be a barrier to getting something seriously good looking – in fact there’s a huge range of costs. While the average spend might be $6,300, you can obtain really unique pieces for less. Why not opt for some unique features – that could be wood inlay in the band, or a precious metal other than gold. Other rings feature inscriptions that are sometimes done in precious stones. Despite their small size, they can make a real impact on the day given the focus. For the groomsmen, copycat bands can be taken for the opposite ring finger.

Looking at cufflinks

Cufflinks are another small but focused on part of the male ensemble during the big day. Not on show the whole time, they are often a talking point and can be sentimental. These are again a great opportunity for a bit of class to be injected into proceedings. For instance, many outfitters now produce cufflinks with a map of a certain part of the world; this could be a great way for men to create a memorial to a favored location, or somewhere mutual shared with his groomsmen.

Finding room for fashion

The bridal gown is often a painstakingly selected garment that reflects the height of fashion; it’s little wonder that the average dress costs $998, according to HuffPo. For the men, it’s less straightforward; suits can be picked for an occasion but are often restricted to a few styles. If you like high fashion, and haute couture, consider implementing fabrics and small details. One such option is to embroider the underside of the tie, or have a subtle material underneath the coloration.

The wedding day is turning towards the timeless trend again, and with it the fashion is changing. Bringing grooms and groomsmen up to speed requires a little craft. Fortunately, there are so many ways that you can customize your apparel to suit the big day.
