It’s no secret that brides are often the main focus of a wedding day. That’s no surprise when you consider they’ve likely been dreaming about this since they can remember. A good groom will realize the importance of letting his future bride live out those dreams . But, as we’ve mentioned in the past, it’s also important to ensure your groom doesn’t feel left out. This is a special day for him too, after all.
To some extent, you can keep him involved by letting him help with planning, but it’s also worth thinking about the day itself. As the bride, you’re automatically the focus. Us women get to play with everything from pretty dresses, to makeup and hairdos. A groom’s outfit is a much more predictable affair. You know how it goes; suit, flowers in the buttonhole. All standard stuff. It’s not exciting, and it’s nothing your guests haven’t seen before.
Making this day special for your groom too, then, may be about little more than suggesting ways they could jazz up the outfit everyone expects to see. Of course, they can’t add a pretty necklace and be done with it. Still, there are fantastic ways to add interest to their outfit, and we’re going to look at some of them here.
Add color
One of the best ways a groom can get jazzy is to add color to their outfit on the day. How far they go with this depends on the man. It may be that they’re happy to settle for something subtle like a navy blue tie. Or, they may want to go all out with a colored suit. Either way, a pop of color could be the perfect thing to make sure at least some of those eyes are on your man during that magic moment. This also provides an opportunity to incorporate personality into proceedings. Isn’t that what weddings are all about?
Hats off (or on)
If your groom is a flamboyant chap, he might even want to go all out here with a special hat for his outfit. A top hat would look fantastic and could add a real sense of steampunk to the day. Or, your man may want to stick with a flat cap to represent his rural beginnings. Either way, this is like a groom’s equivalent of a fancy hairstyle. Just make sure that hat isn’t so tall that it blocks your guest’s view!
Focus on footwear
It may also pay for your groom to focus on his footwear. It’s easy to be pretty outlandish here even with a basic suit. Your man could resort to some color here with bright socks which pop as he’s walking down the aisle. Or, he could have fun with his shoe selection. Again, colorful options work well. He could even focus on style, with a pair of shoes so pointy they poke your registrar’s eye out. Either way, this groom was made for walking (down the aisle), and that’s just what he’ll do.
