How to Pick Your Bridal Party

Your wedding day is undoubtedly one of the most important days of your life. Based on that, figuring out who’s going to crown your day with you is a big choice. Once you know you’re getting married, tons of names may come to mind. But, sadly you can’t pen your whole friend list down as members of your bridal party. There’s really no winning for some people when choosing their bridal party. If you have lots of friends feelings may get hurt. On the flip side, if you don’t, then you may end up opting for anyone who’s available. Based on this, is there an easy way out? Is there actually a way to properly pick a bridal party? The answer is yes and here’s how.

  •  What Are Your Expectations?

As much as the main idea is similar, no two weddings are the same. In the same vein, every bride and groom has certain expectations. Ask yourself this, what kind of support do you need from your bridal party? Are you looking for a loud, fun friend that will put the ‘party’ in bridal party? Do you prioritize responsibility above that? Really give yourself time to think.

  • Gauge Their Skills

It may not be full time or even part-time, but best believe that being in a bridal party is a job. In fact, some people actually opt for professional bridesmaids over friends when the time comes. Nevertheless, think about the skills that your potential bridesmaids and groomsmen possess. How do they align with your expectations? If you know in your heart of hearts that the two do not align, you may want to step back. For instance, if you really need your bridal party to help pick out the perfect wedding dress, choosing people that are fashion crippled will definitely not bode well.

  • Finances

This is the truth, point blank, there will be some of your friends that can’t afford to be in your bridal party. Let’s not even look at the basic stuff like bridesmaid dresses and suits for the groomsmen. In this scenario, let’s imagine that your wedding is out of town. How many of the people on your list can actually make it? This is one touchy issue when it comes to weddings. You’re practically caught between wanting your squad with you and wanting to solely pick people who can afford to be in your bridal party. So, really give this a ponder before you make your choice.

  • Time

Based on your expectations, the members of your bridal party may have to do a little or a lot. If the latter is the case, then you have to pick based on how much time they need to offer. You don’t want to get a bridesmaid so preoccupied she forgets to plan a bridal shower. Or a groomsman so busy he forgets the rings, whether you purchased them from Rachel and Victoria or a pawn shop. Altogether, you need people who have time to devote to you when you need it the most.
