Being picked as a bridesmaid is a huge honor but a lot of responsibility comes with the title. So if you are picked to be part of the bridal party, these are some of the duties that you will be expected to do.
Support the Bride
This might seem like a pretty obvious one but it has been known for some bridesmaids to rip into a bride rather than support them. We have all heard of the dreaded ‘Bridezilla’, but not supporting a bride because they are running ideas past you is pretty selfish. Getting married is a stressful time and you may be needed to help take the emotional load.
Work as a Team
If you are one of a group of bridesmaids, you will have to work as a team to help the Maid of Honor (who will have to help the Bride the most). This means you might have to help organise the Hen Party, and help source things. This also means you will have to help pay for the hen party or the weekend. Always keep the lines of communication open with your other bridesmaids to help the event run smoothly.
Attendance of all the Pre-Wedding Events
There is a lot that goes into a wedding, and there are a lot of wedding events that need to be attended before the big day. There is the engagement party, rehearsal dinner, and the hen party. And let’s not forget the rehearsal ceremony. As a bridesmaid, you will have to be there for every event to help out. If you don’t think you can commit to all of those extras, you might need to step back from the bridal party.
Finding the Dress
One of the best duties for a bridesmaid is the dress shopping. Finding the perfect dress is one of the most pressing issues of the bride. An Extra Set of Hands
Depending on how the bride is doing things, you may be called in to help create some of the wedding items. Stuffing envelopes and sticking bows on things can be time consuming, and this is when a bride needs her team to help her out.
Get the Bride Ready
When the Big Day arrives, you will be one of the many people helping the bride out in the morning to get ready. Depending on her dress, you will also need to make sure she doesn’t have any dress malfunctions throughout the day.
Watching the Gifts
As wonderful as weddings are, there are always one or two guests that make the event really rubbish. Unfortunately, wedding presents have been known to go missing, and as a bridesmaid you will have to keep an eye on the money envelopes and the gifts on behalf of the bride and groom. If possible, work out which one of the bridesmaids will take the gifts home, although this is normally done by the maid of honor.
