Its Friday! If your like me the Farmers Market is a MUST this weekend. Food is a HUGE deal in my household, so when I came across this interview I had to share. The Splendid Table found a wedding couple who was going to take a BIG leap of faith. And I mean BIG! They decided to grow their own food for their wedding. So, it got me thinking about food… of course!
What a huge project it would be to grown your own vegetables and fruit for your wedding guests. You would have to work with a cater to help with the menu and cooking the food. You would also have to think about what would be in season and how long it would take to grown each vegetable. SO. Here is the question: Would it be easier to grow your own food or find a cater who works with local farms?
More and more we are seeing wedding receptions offering guests choices of free range meat and locally grown food. I think its great that couples are thinking more about the health of the guests and the type of foods that serve their pallets. As I mentioned in 5 Ways to Make your wedding GREEN using a catering company who buys local will help reduce your carbon footprint and that’s a HUGE plus! But, with the time it takes to invest into growing your own food would you have time to invest in it?
Between planning their wedding, dress fittings, and everything else, the couple in the interview decided that they were going to do it. They worked closely with their caterer to put together a menu and they got to work. Along the way they ran into a few issues, but in the end it came together. They weren’t able to serve everything on the menu and some of the vegetables weren’t perfect, but it didn’t matter their guests appreciated the huge project the couple took on.
If you have a chance, make sure you check out the interview with this wedding couple. If your not up for growing your own wedding foods make sure you check out an alternative. Your guests will love it and so will you!
TGIF! 🙂
