If the thought of wearing a veil and getting really drunk whilst holding phallic objects makes your skin crawl, then you’ve come to the right place. Your hen party is supposed to be the bride’s last hurrah – so it should reflect her personality and the things that she loves.
Take a look at these great ideas for the modern bride.
Festival Goers
Festivals are a great place to hold a hen party. Whether you want to get down and dirty and camp out for the entire weekend or you’d rather get a nice hotel room, it’s a good excuse to drink, dance and wear silly headwear (and not necessarily a veil). Go for a small, local festival for a more intimate experience, or a massive, well known one for the great headliners.
Burlesque Lesson
Burlesque can be divisive, but if you’re up for it, then it can be empowering and loads of fun. It’s great for the bride who wants a little bit of tongue in cheek naughtiness without the blow up man. Suitable for any age (even the mothers of the couple could go if they wanted!) and you don’t need any dance experience. Look for experienced professionals, who won’t be intimidating, and you’ll be surprised at what you can do!
Art Lesson
If your bride is the arty type, then an art lesson that caters to hen parties can be educational as well as hilarious. Choose from still life or something a little bit risqué with a male life model, and laugh at your attempts to recreate the image on paper. It’s a great, informal way for everyone to get to know each other and you’ll come away with a masterpiece (maybe).
Destination Hen Party
What better way to celebrate your last days of freedom than to jet off somewhere exotic? Whether you plan on sitting in the sun or wandering through ancient cities is up to you. It doesn’t even have to be abroad or very expensive at all, but a weekend away somewhere with your favourite people will leave you with memories that you’ll treasure forever.
Comedy Night
A night to make you laugh is all you want from a hen party. A comedy night from somewhere like Comedy Carnival will leave you with your sides hurting. You’ll be a prime suspect for the comedians though, so make sure you go prepared for marital life and in-law jokes.
Do something similar on a budget and get some stand up DVDs from your favourite comedians.
