To help you make your big day as stress-free as possible, we have put together a handy guide, filled with useful hints and tips.
Make the decisions as a couple
Sit down with your partner and talk through the ideas each of you has, and work out what type of wedding would suit you both. Do you fancy a church wedding, an outdoor wedding, or perhaps a location wedding? Make sure that you are both happy with your chosen wedding type, as once you start the planning there is no going back. Once you have settled on an idea, mull it over for a few days before beginning the preparations.
Set a budget
Before you do anything, it is vital that you set a budget. Discuss it with your partner and come up with an amount that you are both happy to spend. Whilst it is tempting to blow all your savings on one day, it isn’t practical so setting a budget is vital.
Consider whether you need a wedding planner
Once you have decided on the style of your wedding, you may decide that you need some help planning it. If you do decide to hire a wedding planner, make sure you pick someone who you get on well with and can talk to easily. There is no point causing yourself more stress by hiring a wedding planner that you don’t get on with.
Although hiring a wedding planner may seem like an unnecessary expense, hiring a professional wedding coordinator can help to reduce your costs. Many wedding planners use their personal connections to get you discounts on cakes, venues, etc. For instance, you wedding planner may be able to get you a deal on your venue that includes a champagne reception, catering and venue dressing.
Choose a venue
Before setting a date it might be a good idea to pick your venue. Finding a venue that is within your budget, is available at your chosen time and date and can fit your perfect amount of guests in, may cause you some stress. So save yourself the stress and choose your venue first. Once you have chosen your venue then, you can set a date, time and select the amount of people to invite.
Get everyone involved
Once you and your husband-to-be have finalized the details of your big day you can start getting everyone involved. To make everyone feel like an important part of the day, give out as many small jobs as possible. As well as including everyone in the celebrations, this will also take some of the pressure off you.
Write a list of your closest friends and family members and give each person a small job. Try not to leave anyone out. Otherwise you may cause some upset.
On the day itself, just remember to keep calm and enjoy yourself. Your wedding is a once in a lifetime event, if something goes wrong don’t stress about it.
