Book Review: Summer Cocktails

Hello LDW readers! I have such a treat for you today. Remember a while back I did a book review on Winter Cocktails? Well, I’m excited to announce that Maria del Mar Sacasa and Tara Striano of Cookin’ and Shootin’ are back with Summer Cocktails: Margaritas, Mint Juleps, Party Snacks, and More!

Their book is hitting shelves just in time for summer weddings and BBQ’s. It features more than 100 seasonal recipes for classic cocktails and some twists on some of our faves. It also includes punches, frosty drinks and so much more. As always this book was written for novice bartenders to veteran’s and has some really great ideas for signature cocktails for your upcoming summer wedding.

I had the opportunity last week to try out Rainbow Sherbet Punch, but failed on taking a photo (sorry!). So far it’s my favorite punch drink and perfect for the next get-to-together. It has a great combination of Pineapple rum and white sparkling wine.

I can’t wait to try out their blonde version of a sparkling sangria, which I think would be a perfect signature drink for an outdoor wedding. Another favorite of mine for a wedding is the Shandy (pictured above) made with beer (I use hefeweizen) and ginger beer. There are a ton of food recipes in the book that you can pair with drinks from fried chicken to hot dogs with guacamole.

Make sure you pre-order this book because its the perfect addition to the cookbook shelf and has good options for lounging by the pool, cooking over the grill or just relaxing on Sunday afternoon!
