Wedding season is in full force, and if you’ve been asked to be part of the bridal party, you will soon have your hands full with planning and organizing. But if you’re in the age group where many of your friends have started to get married and you are all attending multiple weddings in a year, how do you make sure that you can give your friend a unique and memorable bachelorette party that is different from all of the rest? The most important thing is to, first and foremost, consider the personality and interests of the bride. What is your friend like? How can you come up with a unique weekend event that will really highlight her individuality?

Thinking of Unique Activities

When planning a real fun and special bachelorette party, think about what the bride loves to do and what she’s always wanted to do:

  • Is she an athletic girl? Why not plan some daytime activities that will allow her to get some new and interesting athletic experiences. For example, you could all take a trip to a mountain she has always wanted to hike, or you could try something totally new for her like outdoor rock climbing or swimming with dolphins. If you’re staying in your own area, look up events nearby and if you are going on a trip, look up recommended events at your destination.
  • Does she love glamour? For the glamorous bride-to-be, plan a party that is all about looking and feeling beautiful. Take everyone to the spa or arrange an at-home spa experience. Hire a hairdresser, manicurist, masseuse, etc. to do a full treatment. Give the girls etched bottles of wine or champagne and matching personalized glasses to use while they get their spa treatments. You can also have salespeople come over (similar to the Tupperware party idea) who sell jewelry, shoes, purses, and other accessories. Pay in advance for each lady to get one or a few items and invite each of the ladies to pick out whatever they like. Alternatively, you can plan a shopping experience at a particularly nice bunch of boutiques for the bride-to-be.
  • Does she love an adventure? For the girl who is anything but conventional, check out events that are totally unique and require some bravery! In some cities, you can sign up for adventure experiences. You could also sign up for something like skydiving or helicopter lessons. Other ideas could include signing everyone up for a class like pole dancing, stripping, or even sex technique classes. These classes can be a lot of fun when you’re among a group of friends, but you should still make sure your bride-to-be and group of friends are up for a very silly and slightly embarrassing set of activities.
  • Is she the artistic type? For a girl who loves DIY activities and buying and making art, plan some events that really highlight her creativity. Sign everyone up for a class in something she’s never done before like sewing, fashion design, painting, sculpting, etc. Just be sure to pick something she’s never done before or something that compliments a medium she already loves. For example, if she likes to weave baskets, you can sign up for an art class where you learn how to collect your own weaving materials in the outdoors and weave baskets based on ancient techniques of basket weaving. Fill up your weekend with events like museum trips, hikes in nice areas, shopping for art supplies, and dining at craft eateries.
  • Is she the budget-conscious type? For a girl who prefers to keep things simple, throw an at-home slumber party. Invite everyone to bring over a sleeping bag, rent movies, bring lots of booze, and play some ridiculous bachelorette party games. Have everyone bring over a lingerie item and have the bride try to guess who gave her the item.

Do Something Different!

No matter what type of girl the bride is, she might like to do something totally new and different. Here are some ideas, depending on how ambitious you want to be!

  • Rent a yacht, jet skis, or speed boat and take a day on the water.
  • Go to a music festival.
  • Take a glamping trip. It requires some planning and coordinating but can be a fun “off the grid” vacation.
  • Plan a ladies’ trip to the beach, Vegas, New York, etc. Try to focus on unique locations or somewhere the bride has always wanted to go.
  • Take a winery tour.

Whatever you decide on, make sure to work with the bride and the other ladies in the bridal party to work out the logistics. This will give you a good opportunity to make sure the bride and the other ladies will really enjoy the event and will be prepared for anything silly or embarrassing beforehand. But leave yourself room to surprise everyone with fun games and silly activities.
