Even though I’ve been happily married for almost 3 years and I don’t plan to tie the knot again (at least, that’s how I feel at the moment), my passion for weddings and everything connected with them is not subsiding ever since I was a little girl. Thanks to a number of nuptial ceremonies my husband and I attended as guests, I saw a bunch of dreamy decorations, from classy satin tablecloths sprinkled with crystal stones to divine beach altars harmoniously ornamented with lace. However, I am a fan of quirky, unique and truly creative wedding ideas I would like to share some of them with you:
Alice in Wonderland
This idea is perfect for garden weddings, where apart from elegant, old-time tables and chairs, you can include fragrant rose bouquets, vintage tea sets and apothecary jars laden with colourful macaroon cookies. One of the weddings I recently attended in Sydney had stunning scenery – authentic reception entrance made of doors framed with decorative shrubbery. Gold teapots, rustic candlesticks and funny patterned playing cards can make impressive table decor, while large rustic pocket clocks and wittily guideposts present great way to add creativity to the entire area.

Wes Anderson
This idea I still haven’t seen come to life, but it just had to end up in my list of best décor ideas, and for me this is undoubtedly the most adorable one. There are many ways to go with this themes, depending on the movie you like the most. Pale lavender dining sets, navy and purple tablecloths, colourful garlands, red vases and postcard table numbers present a divine option for the ceremony inspired by fabulous The Grand Budapest Hotel. Wes Anderson – inspired wedding offers endless number of choices, so you can also consider retro camp-style ceremony with multicoloured wooden chairs, old-fashioned reception, vividly patterned wedding backdrops and lovely bulb string lights like in the Moonrise Kingdom.

Rockabilly
My friends had a wedding last year, and it was a real little rockabilly world wrapped into Elvis Presley’s hits. Blue and red cupcakes topped with colourful icings, sky blue napkins shrouded in dotted ribbons perfectly matched bride’s pin-up outfit, while vinyl plates and bowls, and crimson tablecloths made each table truly authentic. If this idea catches your eye, you can “cheer up” the tables with tattoo flash, create a lovely pin-up stand with hair flowers, grease, hair spray and glitter, ask band members to dress like Elvis or even rent one of those shiny classic cars.

Superheroes
I found superheroes an immensely funny and attractive inspiration for wedding decor, especially for comic-loving couples. Cocktails with the names of popular superheroes, tablecloths patterned like comic book pages, Batman mask for each guest and bold word balloons on wedding backdrop are just some of the ideas.

Fruit extravaganza
Apart from being on the menu, fruit can also be a wonderful wedding decor. Just think about tall glass jars filled with green apples or lemons with jasmine flowers on top or crafty melon and grape bouquets. If you prefer more sophisticated ambient, go for table runners made of leaves with gold lemons in the middle, or elegant rattan baskets full of pineapple, mango, apples and strawberries. If you’re worried about where to find all that fruit and baskets, I know that there are some great fruit delivery options in Sydney and I’m sure if you opt for this décor, you’ll find a good supplier in your city.

The wedding is really one of the most special moments in everyone’s life, which is another reason why I think that future spouses should embrace creative, fun and unique wedding decor rather than just classic festive elements.
