Family life, for all of its blessings, can be a lot to deal with on occasion. It may feel like an operation to get the children out of the door, and you have to spin so many different plates that it can be easy to feel strung out by all of it. This is why one of the best tools is to start simplifying. We shouldn’t try to make life more complex but rather, work on project managing our families. Not to be incredibly corporate about it, we can use a number of different approaches to make everything simpler. What can we do?
Reduce the Physical Symptoms of Stress
If we feel stressed, we’re not giving the best of ourselves to anybody, and this means we should learn to practice reducing these physical symptoms. There’s an abundance of tools out there. A very common supplement people are using is CBD, which is an excellent way to slow yourself down and not feel overwhelmed by spinning all of these plates. If you struggle to sleep because of the amount of things that are whizzing around your brain, a supplement such as magnesium can also be a wonderful tool. You can also practice tools such as deep breathing and meditation as these can reduce that sense of tension.
Simplify Daily Routines
If we see a list of things to do that runs as long as our arm, the best approach is to start streamlining these routines to make tasks more manageable. One of the best things you can do is to start batching certain tasks into chunks. For example, if you are taking your children to a sports class and you need to stay with them, you can use this time to get on top of certain life admin, for example, paying bills, rather than waiting until you get home to sort it out. Another example would be to batch cook meals, meaning that if you portion everything up and freeze it, you have a lot more meal times ready. And while it might be stressful to try and cook a bunch of meals at the same time, if you find it overwhelming to try and cook when there are kids running around, you can make things easier on yourself by giving them things to occupy them, but you’ve also spent a fraction of the time you would normally spend on cooking.
Know When You Need Quality Time
We can project manage our lives down to the minutes, but if you’re feeling like there’s always things to do, sometimes you just need to step away and recognize when you need a rest or just quality family time. Going for walks is a very simple thing that you can do to stop feeling overwhelmed, but you should also remember that it’s about you and your family rather than others. This is why something like a social media detox can be an invaluable part of your health for the very simple reason that you stop thinking about others and focus on yourself.
Streamlining your family life is a very tough task but it is absolutely essential to create a far more manageable and fulfilling life.
